In Memory of Reinhard Vogt († September 8, 2025)

Reinhard Vogt

FORMER PARTNER, MANAGING DIRECTOR

The global life sciences community mourns the loss of Reinhard Vogt, a visionary leader and trusted mentor whose contributions helped shape the bioprocessing industry as we know it today.

A Career of Bold Growth
Reinhard’s career began at Sarstedt AG, where he founded and managed the company’s Swedish affiliate before joining Sartorius AG in 1983. Over 35 years at Sartorius, he rose to Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. and Sartorius AG.

Through his leadership, Sartorius grew from approximately $90 million in revenue to nearly $3 billion, expanding from a modest European player into a global leader in bioprocessing. Under his direction, the company completed more than a dozen strategic acquisitions, including TAP Biosystems, Cellca, and BioOutsource, and expanded its manufacturing footprint across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He was instrumental in transforming Sartorius’s filtration business into one of the industry’s most critical process technologies and a cornerstone of the business.

A New Chapter in Venture, Growth Equity and Board Leadership
After retiring from Sartorius in 2018, Reinhard brought his decades of expertise to venture capital and company-building. He became a Partner at Dynamk Capital and later joined AVANT BIO as a Partner, where he continued to identify, invest in, and mentor promising life sciences companies. He also served on several boards including Lucid Scientific, Vectron Biosolutions, and most recently at PL BioSciences. His guidance helped young companies refine strategy, accelerate commercial scale.

Industry Influence and Philosophy
Reinhard was widely regarded as an industry titan, a disruptor unafraid to challenge the status quo. His philosophy was clear: true strategy meant “running a different race,” not simply outpacing competitors. He applied this belief to both corporate transformation and personal mentorship, empowering teams and leaders to think boldly and act decisively.

A Life Beyond Work
Outside of his professional life, Reinhard was a devoted father to his daughter Vanessa Vogt and son Noah Vogt. He loved sports, traveling, and connecting people across borders. Those who knew him personally recall his warmth, generosity, and unshakable belief in supporting others.

A Lasting Legacy
Reinhard leaves behind more than a storied career - he leaves a legacy of transformation. From helping Sartorius rise to global prominence, to guiding startups poised to change the future of medicine, to mentoring countless colleagues and friends, his influence will endure.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the life of a leader, father, mentor, and friend. Reinhard Vogt’s vision and humanity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
